Hello!  I’m Richard. Over the course of my career in the military, I have  experienced all faces of leadership: good and bad, laissez-faire to  totalitarian. I built my foundation of leadership while in the military  where I found my values in openness, respect, and action vs inaction.  

I  was always asked what type of leader I wanted to be. My answer was  always – ‘it depends!’ Some understood while others looked at me  dumbfounded. There are many leadership approaches that we can take. A  good leader is able to adapt their style according to the situation and  the people they lead. 


My  career has given me the privilege to develop an award-winning history,  robust leadership and management experience, and a strategic mindset. I  always wanted to help people achieve their full potential. Now, I am  committed to helping YOU achieve your potential through resilient team  building, training, and coaching.

With over 20 years of organizational leadership experience in the military, community outreach, sales and strategic partnerships, I have learned so many lessons but the one that sticks out the most is, people do not care how much you know unless they know how much you care. Every organization, every team, every person is going to face challenges both personally and professionally. The question is, how will those in your organization respond to adversity?


It does not matter if you are on a battlefield, field of play, in education, healthcare, tech, marketing, sales or management. Teams must demonstrate resilience, innovation, collaboration, and dedication if they want to maintain their competitive edge. Leaders can create balance in their organizations by investing in their team, creating a psychologically safe working environment and empowering decision making. 

 

I was once told that being a good leader means you understand your organizations policies, procedures, and programs. Sheryl Gutierrez

Hello, I am Sheryl and I am currently serving as a Senior Chief Petty Officer in the US Navy. During my military career I have gained a wealth of knowledge and experience in the areas of program management, instruction, facilitation, manning, planning and logistics, supplemented by my MBA in Human Resource Management.  


I have experienced many different forms of leadership. My experience with toxic leadership made me deeply reflect on what not to do when I become the leader. Many of my own professional and personal challenges drove me to thrive more and developed progressive resiliency in the process.  


Good leaders are respectful, encouraging and they set the standard. To be an effective leader an individual must start with themself! I set the tone and I hold myself accountable. I am committed to achieving mastery in four domains of my life: mental, emotional, social, and physical. Being cognizant of this, I passionately advocate, train and coach others to achieve mastery in the areas of their choosing through self-awareness, continuous reflection, and mindset shifting and reframing.  Self-aware leaders are constantly looking for ways to improve, themselves and the organization. In so doing, they cultivate the culture of perpetual learning, development, and growth, which subsequently foster collective resiliency.
